ABOUT Leftover dal chawal masala khichdi (Restaurant style) RECIPE

Masala Khichdi is spiced with regular spices. It is a healthy and easy-to-make meal. Dal khichdi is made of tur dal and rice combined with onions, tomatoes, garlic, and chili. Everyone has their own recipe for khichdi. I make it with tur dal and rice. You can also use moong dal. It is a very simple recipe, which I am sure everyone will love.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Leftover dal-1 bowl
  2. Leftover rice-1 bowl
  3. Onion - 2 medium (finely chopped)
  4. Tomato - 1 large (finely chopped)
  5. Garlic and green chilli paste- 2 teaspoon(garlic - 7-8 cloves and green chilli - 2-3)
  6. Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  7. Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  8. Asafoetida - 1/4 teaspoon
  9. Salt as per taste
  10. Turmeric- 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Red chilli powder- 1/2 teaspoon
  12. Coriander powder- 1/2 teaspoon
  13. Ghee/ oil - 1 tablespoon
  14. Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee on pan.Add mustard seeds,cumin seed and asafoetida. When it cracks, add garlic chilli paste.
  2. Then add chopped onion and saute nicely.
  3. When onion becomes pink,add chopped tomato and saute again. Let the tomato cook nicely.
  4. Add salt,turmeric,red chilli powder, coriander powder,and garam masala.Mix it well and cook for 2 minutes
  5. Add leftover dal-rice.Mix gently.If you need,add some hot water
  6. Garnish with coriander.
  7. And lastly,add lemon juice
  8. Your Masala Khichdi is ready to eat. Serve hot Serve with curd or raita or papad or pickle.
