Ingredients to make Paneer Chataakedar (Spicy & Tangy Cottage Cheese Bites)

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) cubes 2 cups
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Green chilli paste 1/2 tbsp
  • finely chopped tomatoes 1/4 cup
  • tomato puree 2 1/2 tbsp
  • chilli powder 1 tsp
  • coriander (dhania) powder 1 1/2 tsp
  • Pav Bhajji masala 1 tsp
  • dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi) 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice 1/2 tbsp

How to make Paneer Chataakedar (Spicy & Tangy Cottage Cheese Bites)

  1. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick kadhai, add the green chilli paste and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  2. Add the tomatoes, tomato purée , chilli powder, coriander seeds powder, pav bhaji masala, dried fenugreek leaves and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring once in between.
  3. Add the paneer cubes, mix well and cook on a medium flame for another 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Add the lemon juice and mix well
  5. Serve hot garnished with coriander sprig or Kasturi methi.

My Tip:

If using store bought paneer, give it a salt & turmeric bath. Cut paneer cubes, heat water ( do not boil, little warmer than lukewarm), add pinch of turmeric powder and 1/2 Tsp salt. Add cubes in this and leave it for 5-7 mins. Then drain water, this will make the paneer softer and tastier.
