Beef Chilli Dry

Ingredients to make Beef Chilli Dry

  • Beef undercut 1 kg
  • onions 2 large, thinly slicrd
  • garlic 10 cloves, finely chopped
  • ginger 3 inch piece, julienned
  • Fresh coconut grated 3/4 cup
  • green chillies 3 nos., slit in middle
  • Whole Kashmiri Chillies 3 nos
  • cumin/Jeera whole 2 tsps
  • coriander seeds/Dhaniya 1 1/2 tsps
  • cloves 4 nos
  • cinnamon 3 inch piece, broken into bits
  • fenugreek /Methi seeds 1 1/2 tsp
  • curry leaves fresh, a handful
  • mustard seeds/rai 1 tsp
  • Black peppercorns crushed 2 1/2 tsps
  • Green capsicum 2 nos thinly sliced
  • coconut/vegetable oil 1/4 cup
  • salt 1 1/2 tsps or to taste
  • Soya Sauce 3 tablespoons

How to make Beef Chilli Dry

  1. Slice beef into very thin strips and marinate in the soy sauce for 15 mins.
  2. Heat oil in a large frying pan and fry the onions till just turning golden.
  3. Add in the garlic, ginger, jeera seeds, dhaniya seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, Chillies, cinnamon, cloves, curry leaves and half of the grated coconut.
  4. Saute on high heat till the spices release their aromas and the garlic and onion is golden. About 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Add in the beef, 2 tsps of the ground pepper and salt to taste and mix well.
  6. Fry the beef on a high flame till all the water dries up and beef is lightly browned (about 10-15 mins) Do not add any water to the pan.
  7. Add in the rest of the grated coconut, ground pepper and sliced capsicum. Stir fry for a minute and then take off the heat.
  8. Serve hot with Roti or Brun pav
