Dalia Idli

Ingredients to make Dalia Idli

  • 1 bowl dalia (broken wheat)
  • 1 bowl curd
  • 1 tbsp carrot (grated)
  • 1 tbsp capsicum finely chopped
  • salt according to taste
  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder
  • Black pepper according to taste
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • for tempering-
  • few curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1tsp urad daal
  • 1 tsp oil

How to make Dalia Idli

  1. Grind dalia in a mixer.pour it in a big bowl.add curd and salt in it .and keep aside for few minutes.
  2. In a nonstick pan heat oil ,splutter rai, curry leaves and urad daal..roast daal for few seconds.
  3. Now add chopped capsicum and grated carrot , saute it for 1-2 minutes. Add turmeric powder,black pepper and off the gas.
  4. Pour this tempering on dalia mixture and make smooth batter with the help of little water.
  5. Fill this batter in greased idli stand.
  6. Boil 2 cups of water in pressure cooker.when water boil , keep idli stand in cooker and cover with lid remove whistle & rubber from lid.
  7. Steam it for 10 minutes. Off the gas and let the stand remain in cooker for 5 minutes.
  8. Demould it when little cooled.
  9. Serve with your favourite sauce or chutney.

My Tip:

No need of roasting dalia...grind it as it is.
