Healthy Tasty Sambhar

Ingredients to make Healthy Tasty Sambhar

  • 1 katori arhar/tuvar daal
  • 1 cup chopped bottlegaurd
  • 1 cup chopped brinjal
  • 1 cup sliced Onions
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 chopped green chilli
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger garlic
  • 4-5 Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp rai/ mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp sambhar masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp imli
  • Salt to taste
  • Water
  • oil
  • 2 dry red chillies

How to make Healthy Tasty Sambhar

  1. Boil chopped bottlegourd and brinjal with little water and salt.
  2. Wash arhar daal. Boil the daal with 4 cups of water. Add salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Soak into in 1 cup water.
  4. Take a wok. Put 1 tsp of oil. Add rai and curry leaves. As it started crackling add sliced onions chopped ginger and garlic.
  5. Saute for sometime. As onions tirns pink add chopped green chilli and chopped tomatoes.
  6. Cook for a minute.
  7. Add red chilli powder, sambhar masala and salt
  8. Saute it.
  9. Add boiled veggies.
  10. Mix it and cook for a minute as veggies mix with masala.
  11. Then pour boiled daal.
  12. Mix it and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in between.
  13. Then add imli water (strain imli). Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  14. Take pan. Add little oil put few mustard seeds curry leaves and Saboot lal Mirch (break into 2 parts) as the seeds start crackling pour this tadka into sambhar.
  15. Yummy Sambhar is ready.

My Tip:

You can add potatoes and drumsticks also.
