Ingredients to make Bun Tikki

  • For tikki : Potatoes -5 medium
  • Chana Daal parboiled -1 cup
  • Salt - 1 and half tsp
  • Red chilly -1 tsp
  • Dhaniya powder-1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala-1/2 tsp
  • Jeera powder -1/4 tsp
  • Amchur -1/4 tsp
  • Bread slices crumbled -2
  • For sweet chutney : Imli -1cup
  • Deseeded dates - 1 cup
  • Jaggery crushed or grated-1 cup
  • water -12 cups
  • Red chilly -1/2 tsp , sonth powder-1/2 tsp
  • Dhaniya powder 1/2 tsp, jeera powder 1/4 tsp
  • Fennel seeds 1/4 tsp ,oil- 1tbsp
  • Green chutney : pudina - 2 cups
  • Lime juice - 1/2tsp , green chilly-3-4
  • Amchur -1/4 tsp , onion -1 , tomato -1
  • Buns - 4
  • Ring onions - 1
  • Tomato round slices-1
  • Curd -1 cup
  • Some boiled potatoes cubes - 1/2 cup
  • Jeera powder -1/4 tsp

How to make Bun Tikki

  1. Firstly make dates and tamarind chutney by boiling them with jaggery and water for 20 minutes at least. Mash it to get the maximum pulp. And then sieve.
  2. In a pan take oil and add fennel seeds and let them splutter. Then add the puree and other dry ingredients and again sieve it. After sieving let the puree boil until it thickens. The sweet chutney is ready.
  3. Now make Tikki adding potatoes and chana daal and dry ingredients. Make flat shape tikkis and shallow fry on tawa until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Make green chutney adding pudina, onion and tomato and add dry ingredients.
  5. Make curd batter by adding boiled potatoes and jeera powder .
  6. Its time to assemble now. Divide the buns in 2 parts. Heat them on tawa from both sides.
  7. Take a plate. Put base bun and apply green chutney on it . Put some Onion slices. Now put the tikki and apply the sweet chutney to top bun and a slice of tomato. keep it on the tikki.
  8. Now add sweet chutney, green chutney and curd mixture on it. And garnish with sliced onions.
  9. The yummy Bun Tikki is ready to serve.
