ABOUT Dalia/Porridge Halwa RECIPE

A sweet dalia recipe that I learnt from my mother.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 bowl dalia /porridge /broken pieces of wheat
  2. 3 tbsp desi ghee
  3. 3/4 cup Sugar
  4. 4 cups of water
  5. 2 tsp poppy seeds/khaskhas
  6. 1 tsp crushed cardmom seeds
  7. 1 tbsp washed raisins
  8. 1/2 bowl mixed chopped dryfruits

Instructions

  1. In a non stick pan heat ghee crackle poppy seeds.
  2. Add Dalia roast till nice aroma comes or till it gets golden brown colour.
  3. Add cardamom seeds with 1/4 cup of dry fruits.
  4. Add 1/2 tbsp raisins too.
  5. Roast them for few seconds.
  6. Then add 4 bowls of water let it boil after 2 boils let it cook on simmer with lid till tender.
  7. When some water is left or 3/4 done, add sugar in it and cook till it leaves the edges and becomes thick.
  8. Serve hot. Garnish with rest of dry fruits and raisins.
