Chicken Shawarma

Ingredients to make Chicken Shawarma

  • Chicken breast (Boneless) 1/2 kg
  • Ginger powder ¼ tsp
  • Nutmeg powder ½ tsp
  • Lemon juice 1 tsp
  • Garlic cloves 2-3
  • Yoghurt 3-4 spoon
  • Salt ½ tsp
  • Red chili powder ½ tsp
  • Soya sauce 1 tsp
  • Black Pepper 1 tsp
  • White pepper ½ tsp
  • cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • White vinegar 1 tsp
  • Gram masala 1 tsp
  • Onion 1
  • Cabbage ½ cup

How to make Chicken Shawarma

  1. Wash chicken under running water. Drain completely. Cut to small bite size pieces. Keep it aside.
  2. Mix all the ingredients for marinade. Add lemon juice only if needed. Marinate chicken with the mix. Cover and refrigerate for at least 12 to 24 hours.
  3. Heat a pan with half tbsp olive oil on a high heat. When the pan is hot. Place the chicken and flip to cook on all the sides evenly.
  4. When the chicken is tender cooked, shred it on the pan with a wooden spoon. Cook further for 1 to 2 mins. Set this aside and use the same pan to grill quartered layered onions.
  5. Serve as a appetizer with yogurt garlic sauce.
  6. making wrap/ roll: Spread sauce on the chapati or pita bread, place cabbage and then chicken, grilled onions, and roll it up.

My Tip:

Use homemade lacha parantha to make shwarma.
