Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana dal - 2 cups
  2. Besan - 2 cups
  3. Cabbage - 1/2 kg or one big (optional is banana flower)
  4. Tomatoes - 100 gms
  5. Vatana/peas - 200 gms
  6. Onion - 4-5 big
  7. Garlic - 1 whole bunch
  8. Jeera - 1 tsp
  9. Pepper - 6
  10. Coriander seeds - 1 tsp
  11. Coconut - 1/2
  12. Soda - 1/4 tsp
  13. Green chillies - 4
  14. Red chillies dry - 2
  15. Hing - 1/4 tsp
  16. Sugar - 1 tsp
  17. Masala - 1 tsp
  18. Garam masala - 1 tbsp
  19. Salt to taste
  20. Tumeric powder Oil- 3/4th cup
  21. Coriander leaves - a handful

Instructions

  1. Soak the chana dal overnight. Grind it along with Jeera, pepper, coriander seeds garlic, chillies, salt, masalas , coconut scrapping, salt. Make a coarse paste.
  2. Cut the cabbage , onion , tomatoes into small pieces.
  3. Mix besan with the chana dal ground paste. Mix well.
  4. Add the veggies and coriander leaves to this paste. You're almost there now.
  5. Check salt and masalas, can adjust as per need.
  6. Heat the oil slightly cool and add to the above mix.
  7. Add soda and mix well. Preheat the oven at 230 celsius and bake the dish at 230o for a good 45 minutes (it’s done when the top starts giving cracks and turns brown)
  8. Cool and cut into pieces.
