This is a fudge cake with goodness of dates, almond and banana and served with creamy custard. My grand ma used to make this for all her grand children. I wish she could see and taste what i made using her classic old but still so rocking recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. For the cake:
  2. 25 desseed dates soaked in 1/2 cup milk warm milk
  3. 10 almonds finely chopped
  4. 6 dates chopped
  5. 1 over ripe banana
  6. 1/4 cup Milk
  7. 1 cup whole wheat floor
  8. 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  9. 1/2 tsp baking powder
  10. 1/2 cup oil
  11. 1/2 Tsp Vanilla essence
  12. For the Creamy Custard:
  13. 1/2 litre Full Cream Milk
  14. 2 tbsp cornflour mixed with one tbsp cold milk
  15. 3 tbsp sugar
  16. Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by grinding the soaked dates and bananas into a fine paste.
  2. Mix this with oil and then slowly fold in seived wheat flour,cocoa powder, almonds, chopped dates and baking powder.
  3. Spoon this batters in greased small ramekins.
  4. Bake this in a preheated oven at 180 degree c for 25 mins and let it cool completely.
  5. In a vessel bring full cream milk to a boil and add sugar and corn flour paste. Boil it till its thick and shiny.
  6. For plating umould the cake from ramekins and place it in middle of the plate pour the Custard in the side and garnish with chocolate shavings.
