Ingredients to make Traditional chicken curry using castor oil

  • Chicken – 1 kg
  • Green chilies – 5 no’s
  • Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Saunf/fennel seeds – - 1 tsp
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbs
  • Cinnamon – 1 piece
  • Castor oil – 2 tbs
  • Onion – 3 medium size[chopped]
  • Coconut paste –
  • 1 tbs Salt to taste.

How to make Traditional chicken curry using castor oil

  1. Rinse chicken twice or thrice in water, drain the water and keep ready. Take a frying pan, add 1 tsp of castor oil and heat it.
  2. Add saunf, jeera,coriander seeds, cinnamon, green chilies separately one by one, fry to dark brown in colour, allow it to cool, once it is ready, grind to a paste and keep separately.
  3. Add 1 tbs of castor oil and fry chopped onions and fry till dark brown in colour, grind to a paste and keep separately .
  4. Take a kadai add 2 tsp of castor oil/refined oil,heat it ,add grounded spices paste and fry till the oil separates from it add chicken pieces,add salt to taste,mix altogether fry till the water of the chicken evaporates add little water
  5. Cook till the chicken is done.When the chicken is done add grounded onion paste mix altogether,Add ground coconut paste,mix it ,cook to a thick gravy.
  6. Traditional chicken (Kappu koli) fry is ready to serve as a side dish for rice /roti.
