Blackforest Cake

Ingredients to make Blackforest Cake

  • Refined Flour - 250gm
  • Cocoa Flour - 150gm
  • Refined Sugar - 250gm
  • Eggs - 3
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Oil - 3/4th cup
  • Baking soda - 1 tsp
  • Baking powder - 1 tsp
  • Cherries - 250 gm
  • Dark Chocolate - 250 gm
  • For Icing : 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup Butter
  • 1 and half tsp Vanila extract
  • 1 - 2 tbsp Milk

How to make Blackforest Cake

  1. Add in the dry portions of flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder and a small pinch of salt. Mix well.
  2. Bring in together the wet portions, beat eggs thoroughly and add in oil, milk and beat well. Add in the sugar and beat until the foam surfaces. May be for 10 minutes if hand whisking, 5 minutes if electric whisked.
  3. Make a well in the dry portion and pour in the wet portion gradually. Mix lightly.
  4. Pre heat the Oven to 375 deg C. Grease a baking vessel. Pour in the batter. Place in the Oven and start baking at 375 deg C for 40 minutes.
  5. Once the cake is fully baked, with the help of a sharp knife, slice away 3 layers from the cake.
  6. For the icing: In a wide vessel, mix sugar and butter and beat until fluffy. Stir in vanilla extract. Beat in enough milk mentioned in the ingredients list, and keep stirring until the icing becomes easy to spread.
  7. Place a butter paper on a flat dish, place first cake layer onto it. Spread the icing on the layer. Cover fully on top and all sides. Squeeze in some cherry juice.
  8. Place the second layer, cover with the icing and squeeze in cherry juice. Repeat the same for the third layer.
  9. Place the cherries on the top. Grate the dark chocolate and sprinkle on the cake.

My Tip:

You can slice in as many layers from the cake as you prefer.
