ABOUT mysore masala dosa RECIPE

this is my all time favorite. spicy south indian breakfast which is made from regular dosa batter.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dosa batter 2-cups
  2. potatoes- 3
  3. mustard seeds- 1tsp
  4. cumin seeds 1 1/2 tsp
  5. green chillies- 3
  6. chana dal- 1tbsp
  7. Onion-1 diced
  8. turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  9. for the chutney-chana dal- 1/2 cup
  10. Dry red chilli- 5
  11. garlic- 2 cloves
  12. tamarind pulp- 1/2 tsp
  13. salt as required

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the ingredients given for spicy chutney(chana dal,dry red chilli, garlic) till little brown.
  2. Let cool and later add them to the blender ,add salt, tamarind pulp and make a fine paste
  3. Now for the filling, add potatoes and 1/2 cup water in a pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles.
  4. Peel the potatoes and mash them thoroughly
  5. Now heat oil add mustard seeds,cumin seeds, green chillies and chana dal.
  6. Saute for 2 min and add diced onions
  7. After the onions are sautéed add the mashed potatoes, turmeric powder and salt
  8. Mix everything well.
  9. Now the chutney and filling is ready.
  10. On a hot tawa pour a ladle of dosa batter and spread thinly.
  11. After little browning on one side spread a spoon of chutney on one half and over it spread the filling.
  12. Sprinkle some oil or ghee.
  13. Now carefully fold the other half over the filling.
  14. Place the dosa on plate and enjoy with sambar and chutney.
