Ingredients to make Daal vada /chattambadey

  • 1 cup soaked chana daal
  • 4-5 dried red chillies
  • 1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped.
  • 1 tsp salt or as per taste.
  • Pinch of hing
  • 3 stem curry leaves, finely chop the leaves.
  • 2 green chillies, finley chopped

How to make Daal vada /chattambadey

  1. In a blender add dried chillies and pulse till coarsely powdered .
  2. Add the soaked chana daal, add salt, hingh and pulse twice or thrice, the mixture should not be paste, but should be coarse.
  3. Add curry leaves, ginger and mix well.
  4. Make small patties and deep fry.
  5. Serve with chutney.
  6. Chattambadey means flat ambadey, thats a flat snack and it s crispy. So fry till golden on low flame, but oil should be hot.

My Tip:

You can add few tsps of water to bind.
