This recipe is one of our traditional recipe which is mainly made to give for girls when they attain puberty.Sometimes we also prepare this and eat for breakfast.It is very healthy. Not only women, men can also eat this healthy kali.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw rice-1 cup
  2. Urad dal-3\4 cup
  3. Palm jaggery/Karupatti-1 & 1\4 cup
  4. Dry ginger powder/sukku podi-1\2 tsp
  5. Grated coconut-1\2 cup
  6. Water- 4 to 5 cups

Instructions

  1. Clean and soak rice and dal in water for 6-8 hours.
  2. Then drain water and grind it to a fine paste with water.Add water and make the batter watery.
  3. Mean while add 1 cup of water to karupatti/palm jaggery and boil till it dissolves.Switch off and filter it through a fine sieve.( as palm jaggery will have dirt).
  4. Add this little by little along with dry ginger powder to the batter and mix well.Check for sweetness and add more if needed.
  5. Pour the mixture into a heavy bottom pan and keep stirring in low-medium flame continuously(if left without stirring lumps will form).
  6. At one stage it be becomes semi thick mass.Add grated coconut to it and switch off.Mix well and serve hot.
