Grilled Veg Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients to make Grilled Veg Cheese Sandwich

  • 2 Ciabatta sandwich buns
  • 4 tsp fat free mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp green chili-coriander leaves paste
  • 2 tsp cream cheese
  • 1 firm tomato sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Few baby spinach leaves
  • 4 provolone cheese slices
  • olive oil for basting

How to make Grilled Veg Cheese Sandwich

  1. Toast the buns in preheated (375 Deg F) oven for 7 minutes.
  2. Combine mayonnaise, cream cheese, garlic powder, and chili paste. Whisk thoroughly to a smooth texture.
  3. Heat a grill pan. Apply olive oil to the pan with pastry brush.
  4. Sauté onions and spinach lightly. Grill the tomatoes if preferred. Remove to a plate.
  5. Brush olive oil to the outsides of the buns. Apply mayonnaise to both insides of the bun.
  6. Lay a slice of provolone cheese on the mayonnaise. Arrange spinach-onion on it followed by tomato slices over them. Place another slice of cheese.
  7. Cover with the top piece of the bun and grill on the heated pan both sides pressing down with a heavy pot (or keep pressing with spatula for couple of minutes or so per side).
  8. Place on serving dish. Cut it in halves if preferred.

My Tip:

Substitute ciabatta with bread slices or any bun. Alternatively, bun/bread can be toasted on a pan.
