Masala Oats

Ingredients to make Masala Oats

  • Oatmeal - 6 tablespoons
  • Chopped onion - 3 tablespoon
  • Chopped carrot - 2 to 3 tablespoon
  • Chopped Coriander leaves - 1 tablespoon
  • French Beans - 3 (string & chop)
  • Green chilly - 1 (split half)
  • Garlic - 1 small clove crushed
  • Ginger - 1 small piece crushed
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Garam masala - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon

How to make Masala Oats

  1. Place a saucepan on flame and pour 400 ml of water (or nearly 2 glasses).
  2. Add chopped onion, carrot, beans, coriander leaves, slit green chilli, crushed ginger and garlic and stir well.
  3. When it starts boiling add all the dry powders: cumin powder, red chilli powder, pepper powder, garam masala and salt. Stir.
  4. Cook on low flame for 5 to 7 minutes or until the veggies get cooked. Now add oats and stir.
  5. Cook for another 3 to 4 minutes or until the oats gets cooked. Add extra water if required. Now check for salt and add if needed.
  6. Once done remove from flame and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve.

My Tip:

Sometimes garam masala can be replaced with tandoori powder! Makes it very flavorful.
