Ingredients to make Oven baked Tandoori Chicken with Caramelised onions

  • Whole leg piece of chicken - 2
  • Tandoori chicken masala - 2 tbsp
  • Hung curd - 2 tbsp
  • red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • salt as per taste
  • Red barbeque sauce (hot and sweet) - 1 tbsp
  • Black pepper powder 1 tsp
  • 1 tbsp lemon Juice
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • olive oil or veg oil as required

How to make Oven baked Tandoori Chicken with Caramelised onions

  1. Wash the chicken and make some slits into it with a knife.
  2. Take a large bowl and marinate with all the ingredients except black pepper and lemon juice.
  3. Make sure that the marinade enters into all the slits or cuts made into the chicken.
  4. Marinate for a minimum of 2 hours. I generally marinate in the morning if have to cook in the evening. Cover the bowl with foil and put in the fridge.
  5. For Cooking: Preheat the oven at 180 degree centigrade before cooking. Sprinkle the black pepper and lemon juice. Mix and rub well the chicken with the marinade. Sprinkle a bit of olive oil over the chicken.
  6. Bake in a oil greased baking dish for 25 minutes at 180 degree centigrade.
  7. For caramelised onions - Heat butter in a pan and add the chopped onions.
  8. Serve the chicken with caramelised onions.
