Ingredients to make Daliya ki kheer

  • Broken wheat/Daliya/ fada-1 cup
  • Ghee-2 tblsp
  • Water-2 cup
  • Milk-3 cup
  • Sugar-3/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder-1/2 tsp.
  • Almonds-10
  • Raisins -2 tbls
  • Pista -6
  • Saffron-a pinch of

How to make Daliya ki kheer

  1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add broken wheat.
  2. Roast on a medium flame for approx 3 minutes till it becomes golden in colour.
  3. If you want to avoid ghee then dry roast in a pan for 5 minutes OR bake in the oven for 15 minutes on 150F.
  4. Add 2 cups of water and roasted broken wheat in the cooker and pressure cook for 4 whistles on a low flame.
  5. Open and add milk, mix well and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.
  6. Add sugar,saffron, chopped almonds and pista.
  7. Let cook on a low heat for 5-8 minutes.
  8. Switch off the flame and add raisins and cardamom powder.(avoid adding raisins in the boiling milk as it may curdle due to the sourness of raisins)
  9. Serve hot or cold.
