Simply Dal

Ingredients to make Simply Dal

  • Arahar dal 1/2 cup
  • Masoor dal 1/2 cup
  • Chana dal 1/4 cup
  • haldi powder 1/2 tsp
  • Lal mirch powder 1/2 tsp
  • dhania powder 1 tsp
  • salt as required
  • ghee 2 tbsp
  • jeera 1/2 tsp
  • hing a pinch
  • Water as required (preferably double the dal)

How to make Simply Dal

  1. Mix all dals in a bowl and let it soak for a fewz.
  2. Take a pressure pan and add ghee in it. When it heats up add jeera and hing.
  3. Add chopped onions, chopped tomato and minced garlic. Saute well.
  4. Add in all the dry masala and mix it well. Add soaked dal and saute well.
  5. Add water as required. Let it cook for a whistle and after it whistles, turn the gas to simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. After 5 minutes turn of the gas and let it cool.
  7. Serve with steamed rice, raita and papad.

My Tip:

No need of second whistle otherwise dal would be overcooked and it will turn to a Sheera (halwa).
