About Daal Vada Recipe

There's nothing like a crisp vada. Mildly spiced yet full of flavor, this vada is a favourite tea time snack

Daal Vada

Ingredients to make Daal Vada

  • 1 cup channa dal soaked for 2 hours
  • 1/2 inch piece ginger
  • 1 onions
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 1/2 tsp sooji
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • salt to taste
  • mint or coriander leaves 1/4 cup
  • green chilli 1
  • curry leaves - 20
  • oil to fry

How to make Daal Vada

  1. In a blender add all the ingredients other than the curry leaves . Grind to a coarse paste.
  2. Check for salt. Add in the curry leaves. Mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a large pan to deep fry. Now wet your hands and shape tikkis with the batter. Drop into hot oil.
  4. Fry until the tops are golden or almost red-brown and then drain on a paper towel.
  5. Serve with chutney of your choice

My Tip:

Make sure you only choose one flavour - either mint or coriander - otherwise the flavours might be overpowering
