Ingredients to make Namak Pare

  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour ( maida )
  • 1 tbsp. semolina ( sooji / rava)
  • 1/2 tsp carom seeds
  • salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • water to knead the dough
  • oil for frying

How to make Namak Pare

  1. In a bowl, add all-purpose flour, add sooji, add carom seeds and mix well.
  2. Add salt, black pepper and mix.
  3. Into it add refined oil and mix with the flour well.
  4. Set it aside for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Mix the dough again to get smooth texture.
  6. Take a medium size portion of the dough.
  7. Make a round ball.
  8. Dust some flour on rolling board.
  9. Roll out the dough like a thin chapati.
  10. Cut the roti into any shape of your choice (diamond shapes, square or rectangle) using a knife or cutter.
  11. Heat oil in pan to deep fry.
  12. Put them into the oil.
  13. Fry them until they turn slight yellow color on medium to low heat.
  14. Remove them from oil and place them on a tissue paper and sprinkle some chaat masala on it.
  15. Store them in air tight container.
  16. Serve them with tea.

My Tip:

1 Semolina ingredient can be skipped and made as plain namkeen maida snack. 2. You can also add equal portions of wheat flour, besan and maida . 3. You can add some methi leaves or crushed pudina while kneading the flour
