Mumbai's Tawa pulao

Ingredients to make Mumbai's Tawa pulao

  • oil 2 tbsp
  • butter 2 tbsp
  • 1 cup of chopped veggies like onion, capsicum, carrot and tomato
  • coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  • Wet garlic chutney 1 tsp or as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp dhania powder
  • 1 tsp pavbhaji masala
  • 1 big bowl basmati rice cooked with green peas
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • salt as per taste
  • 1/2 chopped tomato

How to make Mumbai's Tawa pulao

  1. Heat oil and butter in a shallow pan. Add chopped veggies to it. Saute for a few mins. Add garlic chutney and all the dry spices. Mix well.
  2. Add rice to it along with salt, lime juice, coriander leaves n half of chopped tomato. Mix well. Cook for a min on high flame. Serve hot topped with the left tomato, coriander leaves and a blob of butter on top. It goes well with pao bhaji and a glass of buttermilk

My Tip:

Rice cooked should have all the grains separate. Butter is necessary in this dish, it gives its distinct flavor and adds richness to it.
