ABOUT Chana dal/ Split Bengal Gram Dal RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana dal - 1 1/2cup
  2. Onions - 2
  3. ginger garlic paste - 1tsp
  4. curry leaves
  5. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  6. Cumin seeds - 1tsp
  7. Red chilli - 2
  8. Red Chilli Powder - 1tsp
  9. Garam masala pwd - 1/2 tsp
  10. Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  11. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the Chana dal, add sufficient water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  2. Take a deep saucepan, add 2 tbsp of oil
  3. Now add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, broken red chillies
  4. Chop and add onion as soon as it splutters
  5. Add the ginger garlic paste, curry leaves
  6. Now stir fry for a while
  7. Now add the powders. Mix well
  8. Add the pressure cooked dal and salt
  9. Add required water for a gravy consistency
  10. Cover and simmer till dal is nice soft when pressed by a finger tip
  11. Serve with rice or rotis.
