About Healthy Breakfast with Kumal Saul or Soft Rice Recipe

This yummy traditional breakfast of Assam is called “Kumal Saul ar Jolpaan” meaning Breakfast of Soft Rice. Simply soak the Kumal Saul (Soft Rice) in water, its grains will expand and soften and it is ready to eat!

Healthy Breakfast with Kumal Saul or Soft Rice

Ingredients to make Healthy Breakfast with Kumal Saul or Soft Rice

  • 50 grams Kumal Saul rice
  • 2 tablespoon curd
  • 1 teaspoon jaggery
  • A glass of normal/lukewarm water

How to make Healthy Breakfast with Kumal Saul or Soft Rice

  1. Soak the rice for half an hour. If you are in a hurry, soak the rice for 15 minutes in lukewarm water.
  2. Drain the rice and put into a serving bowl.
  3. Pour in curd or milk as desired with a dash of jaggery.
  4. Serve instantly to enjoy this traditional breakfast.

My Tip:

You can also add cream/ butter/ dry fruits while preparing this dish for kids. This rice can also be eaten with a side of sabji or chutney for a different taste.
