Cottage Cheese, Peas & Spinach Buns

Ingredients to make Cottage Cheese, Peas & Spinach Buns

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp dry instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 Cup warm water
  • Mixed herbs (rosemary, oregano, basil) as per taste
  • 3 tbsp oil/butter
  • 1 cup grated cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup boiled peas
  • 1/2 cup blanched spinach
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • salt & pepper as per taste

How to make Cottage Cheese, Peas & Spinach Buns

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing with warm milk and sugar.
  2. Mix the herbs and salt in the flour and add 2 tbsp oil. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture. Knead well with warm water for 7-8 minutes. Keep it covered with a wet cloth or cling wrap till the dough doubles.
  3. In a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and add the peas and spinach & cook covered for 5 minutes. Add cottage cheese and salt & mix well. The stuffing is ready. Allow it to cool for sometime.
  4. When the dough gets doubled after the first proofing, punch it and knead a little again. Divide it into small equal sized balls.
  5. Flatten a ball like a thick chapati and make half cuts from 4 sides. Keep the stuffing in the center (1-2 tbsp) & fold over one part on it. Cover with the opposite part & then the remaining two covering each other.
  6. Prepare the rest of the balls with stuffing in the same way & keep them covered again for half an hour for the second proofing. To make pull apart rolls, you may keep them a little closer.
  7. Bake at 200 degrees C for 15-20 minutes or till golden brown. Enjoy!

My Tip:

Enjoy these freshly baked stuffed buns with your favourite cheesy dip or ketchup. You can add ketchup or spread a layer of pizza pasta sauce on the flattened dough before adding the stuffing.
