Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies

Ingredients to make Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies

  • 114 grams or 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 100 grams or 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence or extract
  • 125 grams or 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 to 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks

How to make Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C/ 350 F.
  2. Line the bottom and sides of an 8 by 8 inch square pan with parchment or foil. Make sure the parchment is long enough up the sides to pull the blondies out later.
  3. In a saucepan (with a light coloured bottom) melt the butter. Continue heating for few minutes while whisking or stirring, until brown and a nutty smell emanates. The butter will look foamy and have brown bits at the bottom.
  4. Pour into a mixing bowl and let cool for 10 minutes.
  5. Whisk in the sugar, and then the egg and vanilla.
  6. Add the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until well combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chunks/chips.
  8. Spread the dough into your prepared pan and bake for 25-28 minutes. Let cool completely before slicing.

My Tip:

These can be stored for 3-4 days in an airtight container.
