Massor Dal (Red Lentil) & Egg Curry

Ingredients to make Massor Dal (Red Lentil) & Egg Curry

  • Two Cups of masoor dal
  • 4 or 6 boiled eggs,
  • 2 onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp of mustard seeds,
  • 1/2 tsp of asafoetida
  • 1 tspn of red garam masala powder
  • salt to taste
  • 4 cups of water
  • oil as required
  • 1 tbsp fo Pure ghee
  • for green masala: 3-4 green chilles, Handful fresh coriander leaves,1 tsp of coriander powder, 1 tsp of Garam masala (without chilli),1 tsp of cumin

How to make Massor Dal (Red Lentil) & Egg Curry

  1. Wash and drain the Masoor dal for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Heat the pan with 2 tsp of oil. Add mustard seeds. When it splutters, add Hing (Asafoetida) and onion and saute for 3-4 minutes till onion turns slightly brown.
  3. Meanwhile take the ingredient for Green Masala and grind them in a smooth paste and keep aside.
  4. Put the masala in the pan and stir fry for 5 minutes. Add Red chili garam masala, mix well and add Masoor dal. Stir it for 5 minutes. Pour the water into the dal, add salt to taste and let it cook on medium flame. Do not keep lid on the pan.
  5. Make sure the dal should not be very crushed.
  6. When the dal is half cooked, put all the eggs in to the curry.
  7. Let it cook for 10 minutes. Put 1 tbsp pure ghee and put lid on the pan and switch off the gas.
