Tricolour Idli

Ingredients to make Tricolour Idli

  • 3 cups idli batter
  • For orange color: 1 cup grated carrot and bit water
  • For green color: 1 cup blanched spinach gravy
  • For white color: 1 cup normal idli batter
  • 1 tbsp butter

How to make Tricolour Idli

  1. Orange colored idli preparation:
  2. In a mixing jar, add carrot, water and make a paste.
  3. Add that paste to 1 cup of idli batter and keep aside.
  4. Green colored idli preparation:
  5. In a mixing jar add blanched spinach and make thick gravy and add that to 1 cup of idli batter.
  6. Now grease the steamer plate with butter and pour each batter ( i.e orange, green and white) in steamer separately and make each color idli!
  7. Serve it with coconut chutney!

My Tip:

Do not over cook the spinach otherwise green color would not come out properly.
