ABOUT Soya Shepherd's Pie RECIPE

The Indian spices to the mixture give it a delectable desi style tadka. For a vegetarian version, try a filling of soya mince.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. For soya filling:-
  2. 2 tsp butter
  3. 2 Bay Leaves
  4. 2 cinnamon stick
  5. 2 onion, finely chopped
  6. 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  7. 1 tsp all ground spice
  8. 1/2 tsp turmeric pwd
  9. 1/2 cup chopped tomato
  10. 2 tbsp Tomato puree
  11. 3-4 tbsp Water or as required
  12. 1 cup soaked soya granules
  13. Salt as required
  14. Few freshly chopped coriander
  15. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  16. For potato mash:-
  17. 2 tbsp Butter
  18. 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  19. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  20. 1 1/2 cup boiled mashed potato
  21. Salt as required
  22. Pinch of chilly powder
  23. 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice

Instructions

  1. For soya filling:
  2. Heat the butter in a pan and add the bay leaves and cinnamon stick followed by the onion and fry for a couple of minutes, then add the green chilies, salt, chilly powder, turmeric powder, chopped tomatoes and tomato puree, water, and soya granules, all ground spice and continue frying for 5-6 minutes until everything is mixed well.
  3. For potato mash:
  4. Heat butter in a pan, add ginger garlic paste and let it brown, add salt, chilly powder, turmeric powder, mashed potato and butter, switch off the flame and mix well, add lemon juice and mix well.
  5. Now add the soya filling into ramekin.
  6. Pipe out the potato mash over it.
  7. Bake the dish for 10-12 mins in a preheated oven at 220° C.
  8. Serve with salad and garnish with roasted papad and mashed potato sticks.
