Bottle gourd/Lauki kofta curry

Ingredients to make Bottle gourd/Lauki kofta curry

  • For koftas:
  • bottle gourd/lauki grated and squeezed 1 1/2 cups
  • besan 4tbsp
  • onions finely chopped 1/2 cup
  • ginger chopped 1 tsp
  • cumin powder 1 tsp
  • pomegranate powder 1/4 tsp
  • Green chilli chopped 3
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • oil for shallow frying
  • salt to taste
  • FOR GRAVY:
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • onion paste 1 cup
  • Garlic and ginger paste 1 tbsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Degi mirch 1 tsp
  • Green chilli 2
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • water 2- 3 cups
  • tomato paste 2 tbsp
  • cream 1 tbsp
  • Meat masala 1 tbsp
  • Dry methi leaves 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves chopped 2 tbsp

How to make Bottle gourd/Lauki kofta curry

  1. In a bowl mix all the ingredients for koftas except the oil. Make small balls and fry in hot oil.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, green chillies, ginger and garlic paste, turmeric powder, degi mirch, onion paste. Saute for 5-6 minutes. Add in the tomato paste.
  3. After 3 minutes, add water 2 cups (Add more if needed) salt and pressure cook for 15 minutes or till 7 whistles.
  4. Add methi, meat masala, cream and the prepared kofta balls.
  5. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

My Tip:

Koftas can also be made in the oven. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes at 180 degree centigrade.
