ABOUT Tavuk Gogsu RECIPE

This is a turkish dessert. The name of this dessert is TAVUK GOGSU which means, literally, chicken breast. This pudding contains some chicken breast. But actually, you don't taste the chicken because chicken breast is cooked very well, and it is shredded into very small fibers. The first time I heard about this was from a Turkish friend in UK and when I tasted it.. I loved it. I didn't have the recipe for this..But after a lot of research I settled for this easy recipe. And trust me you will love it !!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. milk - 3 cups
  2. sugar - 1 cup
  3. corn starch - 1/4 cup
  4. rice flour - 1/2 cup
  5. water - 1 cup
  6. salt - 1/2 tsp
  7. chicken breast - 1
  8. cinnamom powder - for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Boil the chicken breast until it gets really soft. Cut it into long (about 5cm) thin pieces, then rub them with your hands until they turn into fine threads.
  2. Rinse them in water 3-4 times changing the water each time, then drain the water well until the meat is completely dry.
  3. Pour milk, sugar and salt in a pot and let the sugar melt. Mix the flour and corn starch in a separate bowl.
  4. Slowly add some milk and stir to get a smooth paste. Pour the paste in the pot and stir until it starts to thicken.
  5. Take 4-5 tablespoons of the pudding and mix it with the chicken threads, stir with a fork and put the mixture back in the pudding.
  6. Boil at low heat and stir constantly until it thickens. When it is ready pour it in a baking pan (2-3 cm deep) which can be put both in the fridge and in the oven. Bake it for a little while only on the bottom and leave in a refrigerator overnight.
  7. Cut into rectangles and keep the baked side up. Finally sprinkle some cinnamon on them and serve.
