Berlin Jam Donuts

Ingredients to make Berlin Jam Donuts

  • Instant yeast 2 tsp
  • egg White (beaten) 1
  • eggs 2, lightly beaten
  • Warm water 1/2 cup
  • Warm milk 1/2 cup
  • Caster sugar 1/4 cup
  • Plain flour 3/4 cup
  • Strawberry Jam 1/2 cup
  • oil for frying
  • Icing sugar 1/2 cup
  • butter (melted) 3 oz/ 85 gms

How to make Berlin Jam Donuts

  1. In a bowl mix together the butter, eggs, milk, water, sugar and yeast together.
  2. Sieve the flour into a large bowl, add in all the liquid ingredients, mix it into a soft dough. Cover and leave in a warm place till it doubles in size, turn the dough into a flour surface until its smooth. Then roll out the dough and cut into 5 centimeter rounds.
  3. Brush half the rounds with egg whites and drop 1 tsp of jam in the center of each round. Top it with the remaining rounds and pinch the edges together.
  4. Roll the remaining dough and repeat this process. Cover the rounds and let it stand for 15 mins or until it doubles in size.
  5. Deep fry these doughnuts in hot oil until they turn light brown in colour.
  6. Drain and toss these doughnuts immediately in icing sugar.
