Strawberry Cannoli

Ingredients to make Strawberry Cannoli

  • Maida - 1 cup
  • Butter - 1/4 cup
  • Cold water as required
  • Olive oil 2 tsp
  • Milk 2 tsp
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp sugar for the bread
  • 1/4 tsp active yeast
  • Sesame seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Strawberries- about 10 pieces (cut into cubes)
  • Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Whipped cream 2-3 tbsp
  • Mint leaves for garnishing
  • Some butter for greasing

How to make Strawberry Cannoli

  1. First to make the Italian sweet bread, soak the yeast in luke warm water with some sugar. Keep it aside for 1 hour till it becomes fluffy.
  2. After this process, take the maida/flour and mix in the yeast mixture alongwith butter, a pinch of salt and cold water as required to make a soft dough. Keep this aside for 1 hour in a hot place for fermentation.
  3. Dust with maida. Then spread olive oil and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  4. Roll the dough in a round shape and attach it in the center as shown in the picture. Sprinkle sesame seeds and give a milk wash. Bake it at 180 degrees in a preheated oven.
  5. Take the chopped strawberries. Put some sugar in a pan and melt it. Add the chopped strawberries and cook till the strawberries get soft, then let it cool and make a puree. Save some strawberries to prepare the topping puree.
  6. After this, take some sugar in a pan and caramelize it. Coat the bread with caramelized sugar and put it on a greased plate. Let it cool and spread the strawberry puree on the bread.
  7. Pour the whipped cream in a piping bag, now top the connoli with the whipped cream. Garnish it with the strawberry piece.
  8. To make the caramelized wool, take the sugar in a pan and caramelize it. Let it cool and pull threads. Garnish this dish with caramelized threads and serve.
