Orange and Choco Cake

Ingredients to make Orange and Choco Cake

  • 100 ml Orange juice
  • 1 fresh orange
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 120 gm sugar
  • 100 gm refined flour
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup cooking chocolate
  • 3 tbsp fresh cream
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanila essence
  • Star candy for garnish

How to make Orange and Choco Cake

  1. Grease a baking dish. Keep it aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees celsius.
  3. To make the orange sauce, heat a heavy pan and add the orange juice. Add 50 gm of sugar and boil it for 10 mins to make a liquid sauce. Add the orange zest in the last and boil it for 2 mins. Let the sauce cool for sometime.
  4. Strain the refine flour, baking powder and baking soda together.
  5. In a big bowl add 50 gm of sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla essence and beat it to soften the liquid. Add orange sauce and beat it for 1 minute.
  6. Add the refined flour mixture slowly with the cut and fold method. Make a batter without the lumps.
  7. In a greased dish, set the thick and orange slice in the lower side of the dish. Pour this mixture in the greased tin or oven proof dish.
  8. Bake it for 25 mins. Check it with a toothpick if required and bake for 5 more mins.
  9. Let it cool, then demold the cake.
  10. Heat a heavy pan and caramelize one table spoon the sugar. Now carefully pour this on the cake with the orange slice side on top. The top of the cake is now caramelized.
  11. Melt the chocolate and cream with the double boiling method. Cut the cake in middle and stuff in this mixture.
  12. Garnish with chocolate and star candy.

My Tip:

The orange sauce should not be too thick or too liquidy.
