ABOUT Malai Tiger prawns RECIPE

This rich creamy prawn curry is a north Indian delicacy eaten with traditional jeera rice /steam rice . The prawns are cooked in a thick coconut milk gravy with whole spices for a strong, flavorful dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 8 Tiger prawns
  2. 2 large onions (paste)
  3. 3 tomatoes (puree)
  4. 2 bay leaves
  5. 2tbsp hung curd
  6. 2tsp Kashmiri red chilly powder
  7. Whole garam masala (4 cardamom, 1" cinamon, 2 clove, 4 black pepper)
  8. 2 green chilly
  9. 3tbsp oil/ ghee
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 2tbsp ginger garlic paste
  12. 1tsp garam masala
  13. 2tsp coriander powder
  14. 1tsp jeera powder
  15. 1tsp turmeric powder
  16. 2tsp red chilly powder
  17. 2cups coconut milk
  18. Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
  19. 2tsp fresh cream

Instructions

  1. Clean the Prawns . Marinate these with salt n turmeric powder. Keep it.
  2. Heat the mustard oil/ghee in a karai and add the whole garam masala with bay leaves. Fry for a minute.
  3. Then add the onion paste & fry till the raw smell of the onion goes on a med flame. Then add ginger garlic paste &fry again for few mins.
  4. Then add tomato puree & fry continuously till masala separates from oil/ghee on a med flame.
  5. Now add turmeric, chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, kashmir red chilly powder . Fry little on low flame. Then add curd to it. Mix properly. Add salt as per your taste. Be careful while adding salt as salt is added already in prawns. Fry for few secs.
  6. Now add marinated prawns to this mixture. Cook for 3 to 4 mins on high flame.
  7. Now add coconut milk & green chilly to it.
  8. Cover & cook over high flame for 5 to 6 mins till the gravy thickens.
  9. Now add garam masala, cream to it. Switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves.
