Green Gram Dal and Paneer Pan Fry

Ingredients to make Green Gram Dal and Paneer Pan Fry

  • Overnight soaked green gram dal - 1 cup
  • paneer - 100 gms diced
  • onions - 1 medium sized, finely chopped
  • green chillies - 2 chopped
  • garlic - 1 small sized peeled
  • ginger - 1 inch piece grated
  • turmeric - a pinch
  • salt - as per taste
  • oil - 1 tablespoon
  • saunf - 1 teaspoon
  • curry leaves - 1 strand

How to make Green Gram Dal and Paneer Pan Fry

  1. Heat oil in kadai, add in the saunf and curry leaves and allow it to splutter.
  2. Add the chopped onions and green chillies and fry till they are golden brown in colour. Then add the grated ginger and coarsely mashed garlic pieces, fry till the raw smell goes away.
  3. Add the soaked green gram dal and fry it for a few minutes. Then add the paneer and turmeric and salt as per taste and fry it for a few minutes.
  4. Pour enough water, around 1/2 a cup and allow it to cook in a medium flame.
  5. Once the water dries up, and the dal and paneer softens, remove it from the heat and serve it hot with rice or rotis.

My Tip:

For extra flavour, you can add grated coconut and finely chopped coriander leaves after removing it from the heat.
