Ragi Mudde

Ingredients to make Ragi Mudde

  • Ragi/ Finger Millet - 1 cup
  • Water - 1 + 3/4 cup
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Rice flour - 1 tsp

How to make Ragi Mudde

  1. Take a heavy bottomed vessel and add water, salt, 1 tsp ragi flour and rice flour. Mix well and bring this to boil.
  2. When it comes to rolling boil, turn the heat to medium and add the remaining ragi flour. Do not mix it.
  3. Let it boil until the water starts covering the dry ragi flour.
  4. Once it starts covering the ragi flour, remove from heat and start mixing. Mix it until no lumps remains. It will start getting dry. Mix vigorously. Scrape out the sides.
  5. When you are sure that there are no lumps, cover and let rest it for 5 minutes.
  6. Transfer the ragi mixture to a greased plate.
  7. Grease your hands with oil/ ghee. Take a lemon sized portion and start rolling to get a ball shaped ragi dumpling.
  8. Repeat the same for all.
  9. Your ragi mudde is now ready.
  10. Serve it immediately or serve with in a week. Do not forget to heat it before serving.
  11. Enjoy with any lentil based curry of your choice.
