ABOUT The Nutty Chicken RECIPE

This is my innovative recipe where I didn't want to focus on masalas to bring out the flavor of this dish but rather blend the nuttiness of peanuts and sesame seeds in the chicken. It's moderately spicy dish due to the inclusion of green chilies. It was a definite hit in my house and will be in your house too!

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 6 Chicken boneless fillets
  2. 1/4 cup grated coconut
  3. 3-4 Green Chilies
  4. 2 tbsp thick yogurt
  5. 1/4 cup roasted peanuts (skinless)
  6. 1/4 cream full cream
  7. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  8. 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  9. 1 tsp Sesame seeds
  10. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  11. Handful of chopped coriander leaves
  12. Salt to taste
  13. 1 tsp coarsely ground black peppercorns
  14. 2 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the chicken with a clean kitchen towel/napkin. Apply salt and ground black peppercorns to the chicken and leave it aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Grind the garlic, peanuts, green chilies, salt, and coconut to form a fine paste.
  3. Heat oil in pan. Add in the cumin seeds, fennel seeds, and slit green chilli. As the cumin seeds brown, add in the sesame seeds and coriander leaves.
  4. Place the chicken in the pan and cook till both the sides are slightly browned.
  5. Add the ground paste, saute and cover with a lid to cook the chicken completely. Keep stirring and flipping the chicken at intervals.
  6. Mix the cream, yogurt, and garam masala powder together and pour this into the pan. Cover and simmer for a few minutes till the oil floats on top.
  7. Remove and place in a serving bowl. If planning to single serve, then ladle the gravy on plate and place the chicken fillet on the gravy with sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
  8. Serve it hot with naan, roti or rice.
