Ingredients to make Meethe Rice and Plain Rice

  • Plain rice:
  • rice 2 cups
  • water 2 cups
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • bay leaves 2
  • Sweet rice :
  • rice 2 cups
  • water 2 cups
  • Orange/ yellow colour 1/4 tsp
  • Saunf/ fennel 1 tsp
  • Black cardamoms 3
  • sugar 3/4 cup
  • ghee 2 tbsp

How to make Meethe Rice and Plain Rice

  1. To prepare the plain rice, heat oil, add in the bay leaves, rice and water. Cover and bring it to a boil.
  2. Cook on a low heat till the water is absorbed by the rice.
  3. To prepare the sweet rice, heat ghee, add in the saunf, cardamom rice, 3/4 cup water. Then cover and bring to a boil, cook on a low heat till the water is absorbed by the rice.
  4. In another pan, heat 1/4 cup water and sugar till the sugar dissolves. Then add the orange colour.
  5. Once the water is absorbed by the rice, add the sugar syrup and cook till it is absorbed by the rice.
  6. Serve it warm for best taste.

My Tip:

People eat plain rice with dal and mahni and take sweet rice as a sweet dish. We can eat it with plain and sweet rice together with the dals, it tastes really good.
