Bateka Rasa

Ingredients to make Bateka Rasa

  • 4 potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 3 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoon ginger- garlic paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon green chilli paste
  • 1 cup boiled water of tamarind and gud/ jaggery
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • 1 tsp cumin seed powder
  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander leaves
  • water as required
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 5 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

How to make Bateka Rasa

  1. Mix the ginger, garlic and green chilli paste in a bowl with water.
  2. Heat a pan and add oil, then add the in the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them crackle.
  3. Next add in the asafoetida and turmeric powder. Then add the cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf, currry leaves and dry red chillies. Let them all crackle well.
  4. Next add the ginger-garlic chilli paste mixed with water. Boil it for 2 minutes.
  5. Now add in the mashed potatoes and mix it well.
  6. Next add in the taramind and boiled water. Let it boil for 1 minute and mix it well.
  7. Now pour in extra water as needed. (Based on if you want the rasa thick or thin)
  8. Add salt as per taste. Then add the red chilli powder.
  9. Next add the cumin seed powder and garam masala powder. Mix it well.
  10. Let this boil and cook for 5 minutes. Then turn off the stove.
  11. Add coriander leaves to garnish and the batata rasa is ready to be served.
