Ingredients to make Beetroot Coconut Modak

  • Beetroot medium sized 1
  • sugar 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Grated coconut 2 cups
  • ghee 3 tablespoons
  • Cardamon powder 1/2 tablespoon
  • Milk powder 3 tablespoon
  • Milk 1/2 cup

How to make Beetroot Coconut Modak

  1. Peel off the beetroot and boil it in a pressure cooker for 10 mins. Once boiled, let it cool and grate the beetroot.
  2. Put a pan on heat, add the ghee and put in the grated coconut and beetroot. Stir it well and let it fry for 5 mins, now add the milk powder, sugar, milk and keep stirring so that it doesn't burn.
  3. The mixture will start leaving water so stir it for another 10 mins to make it a little dry. Now add in th cardmon powder and mix it well.
  4. Take the pan off the heat and let the mixture cool down. Now take the modak moulds and apply a little bit ghee in it and put the mixture in it. Now unmould and the yummy modaks are ready.

My Tip:

We can also add condensed milk in it for better taste. Also, the same modaks can be made with kesar syrup instead of beetroot as well to get a saffron colour.
