Chicken Shami Kabab

Ingredients to make Chicken Shami Kabab

  • 1/2 kg chicken mince
  • 50 gms (1/2 cup approximately) chana dal
  • 4 green cardamoms
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 1 inch piece of cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (all whole)
  • 2 inch piece of ginger
  • 5-6 cloves of garlic
  • 2-3 dry red chillies
  • onion 1 medium sized, chopped
  • coriander leaves chopped, 1/2 bunch
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt as per taste
  • oil for frying

How to make Chicken Shami Kabab

  1. Wash the minced chicken in a colander and drain out the excess water.
  2. Next, add to it all the ingredients, except the egg, chopped onion and chopped coriander. Then pour in 1/2 cup of water and pressure cook for 15 mins on a low flame.
  3. Let it cool a little and add in the eggs. Grind it well to form a paste.
  4. Now add in the chopped onions and coriander. Then make lemon size balls and flatten them.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry till they turn golden brown on a medium flame.
  6. Serve it hot as a snack or starter.

My Tip:

Adding the eggs before grinding it, this gives it a fine texture and water is not required while grinding.
