Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Moong dal soaked for 5 1/2 hours 1 cup
  2. Milk 1 1/2 cup
  3. Hot Milk 1/4 cup for soaking kesar
  4. Khoya 1 cup
  5. Sugar 1 cup
  6. Water 1 cup
  7. Green cardamom 6, powdered
  8. Besan 1 tbsp
  9. Clarified butter or ghee 2 cup
  10. Dry fruits chopped 3/4 cup
  11. Silver varak for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 1/2 cup ghee in a heavy wok.
  2. Add besan and roast till light brown.
  3. Add coarsely ground moongdal. Stir continuously.
  4. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes on a medium flame.
  5. After 15 minutes, it will begin leaving the sides of the wok.
  6. Stir well and fry for a bit.
  7. After 30 minutes, it will become golden then add kesar with milk, add all the milk.
  8. Cook till it absorbs the milk. Heat grated khoya for 2 minutes. Add khoya in the dal.
  9. Make one string sugar syrup. Add it in the moong dal mixture.
  10. Add half of the dry fruits and cardamom powder. Add in the remaining ghee.
  11. Cover the wok for 5 minutes on sim. Open and stir.
  12. Garnish with silver work and dry fruits.
