Chole Bhatura

Ingredients to make Chole Bhatura

  • Refined flour - 2 cups
  • curd - 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • Baking powder - 1 tsp
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • oil - 5 tbsp
  • Lukewarm water - 1/2 cup

How to make Chole Bhatura

  1. Place the flour in a wide vessel and make a well in the center.
  2. Bring together the salt, sugar, baking powder and curd into the well.
  3. Gradually pour in lukewarm water and knead the dough to get a sticky dough.
  4. Add in 2 tbsp oil and knead again and set aside for 2 hours.
  5. Take the dough and knead again for 10 minutes by rubbing your palm and fingers with the help of some dry flour.
  6. Add in the remaining oil, and furthermore 5 or 6 tbsp.of refined flour and knead well until the dough becomes unsticky yet soft.
  7. Make balls. And spread into round disc shaped..
  8. Make sure the oil is very hot in a kadai, enough in quantity for the bhaturas to immerse in and pop out.
  9. Serve hot.

My Tip:

The curd and lukewarm water makes sure the dough is very soft and maintains the bhaturas to remain soft and spongy even when they get warm or cold.
