ABOUT Sweet and Savoury Pearls (Mani Kozhukattai) RECIPE

Was inspired by recipe of Tamil salvi. And tried a sweet version of it.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For making sweet pearls: Rice flour 1/2 cup
  2. Jaggery 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp grated
  3. Elaichi powder 1/4 tsp
  4. Coconut grated 1 cup
  5. Ground almond powder 1 tsp
  6. 1 tsp ghee

Instructions

  1. For sweet pearls boil 1 cup water, add salt and ghee in rice flour and add boiling water continuously stirring with a spatula not to form lumps. Grease your palm with oil and knead a soft dough.
  2. For savoury pearls make pearl sized balls same way by adding oil in the flour. Steam them. After cooling a while heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida, mustard seeds, curry patta, green chilli, chilli powder and sesame seeds.
