ABOUT Onion Bhajis RECIPE

An evergreen tea time snack that never goes out of fashion.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3 medium sized onions, finely sliced
  2. 1 cup Besan (gram flour)
  3. 1 tbsp Rice Flour
  4. 1 tsp Grated Ginger (optional)
  5. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  6. A pinch of baking soda
  7. Fresh Coriander leaves - handful (chopped)
  8. Water - to make the batter
  9. oil, for deep frying
  10. Salt to taste
  11. chaat masala, to sprinkle on top
  12. Lemon wedge for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, add besan, rice flour, ginger, chilli powder, baking soda, salt and fresh coriander.
  2. Add little water and mix to form a thick and smooth batter.
  3. Add the sliced onions in the batter.
  4. Let the batter coat onions nicely.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan.
  6. Drop small portions of the mixture in the hot oil using your hands.
  7. Keep stirring the fritters occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  8. Take the bhajis out of the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on absorbent paper.
  9. Fry the remaining mixture in similar fashion.
  10. Sprinkle chaat masala on the bhajis and garnish with a lemon wedge.
  11. Serve hot bhajis with a dip of your choice.
