Ingredients to make Drumstick Thoran (With a tangy taste of Curd and flavour of Kasoori Methi)

  • Drumstick 3 (Muringakka)
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric a pinch
  • For curry paste
  • Grated coconut 1 cup
  • shallots / small onions 4 to 5 nos
  • garlic crushed 1/2 tsp
  • ginger crushed 1 tsp
  • Methi Dana ( fennel seeds) 10 to 12 nos
  • Green chilli 1 (according to taste)
  • curd 1 tbsp
  • Kasoori methi 1 tsp
  • coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tsp
  • oil for seasoning 1 tsp
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • mustard seeds a few
  • Curry patta 1 or 2

How to make Drumstick Thoran (With a tangy taste of Curd and flavour of Kasoori Methi)

  1. Cut drumsticks length wise. Boil with 1 cup water.
  2. Add salt and turmeric. Just half cook till it cooks, coarse grind shallots, coconut powder, fennel seeds, ginger, garlic and chilli.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida, mustard seeds and curry patta. Adf ground paste. Saute for a while. Add half cooked drumstick. Adjust salt and water.
  4. After it cooks, add beaten curd. Dry roast kasoori methi and add to the Thoran. Serve hot with rice.

My Tip:

Curd gives a tangy taste. Kasoori methi enhance the flavour.
