ABOUT Cheru Paruppu Curry RECIPE

This is a must try recipe in Onam sadya. It is served with rice along with ghee.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. pasi paruppu / moong dal- 1/3 cup
  2. turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  3. Salt to taste
  4. To Grind:
  5. Coconut pieces- 1/2 cup
  6. green chilly 2
  7. jeera - 1 tsp
  8. To temper:
  9. coconut oil 2 tsp
  10. mustard 1/2 tsp
  11. shallots 4, chopped
  12. Red chilly 1
  13. curry leaves a few

Instructions

  1. Grind the ingredients given under - to grind to a paste with a little water. (Not too fine nor too coarse).
  2. Dry roast the dal for a few minutes and cook it with turmeric powder.
  3. When cooked, mash it well and add the ground paste.
  4. Dilute with some water. Add salt and a little turmeric powder.
  5. Cook till the raw smell of the masala vanishes.
  6. Temper with the ingredients given under - to temper and add to it.
