Ingredients to make Bharvan kerela aloo

  • Bitter gourd 1/2 kg
  • potatoes diced 2-3
  • onions sliced 1 cup
  • onion paste
  • saunf 2 tbsp (roasted and crushed)
  • anardana Powder 1 tsp
  • Chat masala 1 tsp
  • Pav bhaji masala 2 tbsp
  • turmeric 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Degi mirch 1 tsp
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • oil for Deep frying

How to make Bharvan kerela aloo

  1. Peel bitter gourd and fry them till done ,cool and make slits ,if the seeds are too hard can remove them
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil add onion paste saunf,red chilli powder,anardana salt to taste ( keep in mind that salt will also be added to potatoes ) and cook till it becomes little dry
  3. Add pav bhaji masala and keep aside to cool
  4. When masala cools, fill it in bitter gourds proportionally
  5. Heat 2 tbsp oil ,add sliced onion, potatoes and salt
  6. Cook till potatoes are tender then add stuffed Keralas cover and cook for 6-9 minutes at low heat.
  7. Sprinkle Chat masala

My Tip:

Fry gourds without slit or else there will be too much oil
